Microsoft 365 - Use Microsoft Entra ID app (no additional MS365 user needed)

In this section you will find a tutorial on how to create Microsoft Entra ID app, resource in Microsoft 365 and how to connect a Tapirx device to the calendar of this resource.

Create resource in Microsoft 365

  1. Sign in to https://www.office.com/ with your Account Manager or Global Admin account credentials
  2. Click on the Admin icon within the Microsoft Office home screen
  3. Select Resources -> Rooms & equipment in Microsoft 365 admin center menu
  4. Click Add and create meeting room

Create a Microsoft Entra ID app

  1. Go to the Microsoft Entra ID admin center.
  2. Expand the Identity menu -> expand Applications -> select App registrations -> select the New registration button
  3. Enter the name for your app. For example "Tapirx app"
  4. For the type of supported account types, select Accounts in this organizational directory only
  5. Once created, copy the Application ID and Directory ID
  6. Click "Add a certificate or secret"
  7. Click "New client secret"
  8. Enter the name and click "Add"
  9. When the Client secret is created, copy the Value (this is the only time this value can be accessed)
  10. Please note that the secret will expire in a time period you have selected. Make sure you create a new secret before expiration and update it in our system.

Add API permissions

  1. Use the app left menu and choose "API permissions"
  2. Click "Add a permission"
  3. Choose "Microsoft Graph"
  4. Select "Application permissions"
  5. Enter "Calendars.ReadWrite", tick the box and click "Add permissions"
  6. After the API permissions was added Admin consent needs to be granted

Restrict access of the Entra ID app

  1. Connect to Exchange Online PowerShell. How to do it
  2. You will need Microsoft 365 resource emails which can be found in Resources -> Rooms & equipment in the Microsoft 365 admin center menu
  3. Create a mail enabled security group which will include resource emails you want to use use with Tapirx. How to do it
  4. Limit access for the app only to this group. How to do it

Allow access to Tapirx device in our client portal

Log in to client admin
  • Log in to the user area with your Client admin credentials here
  • Click on "Client admin" link in the menu
  • Select "Allow access to calendars"
  • Choose "Use Microsoft Entra app"
  • Click "Allow access"
  • Use the Application ID, Directory ID and secret value
  • Click "Save"
Assign Microsoft 365 resource email to Tapirx resource
  • In your Tapirx client admin click on "Resources"
  • Choose resource
  • Click on "Menu"
  • Click on "Connect to calendar"
  • Insert Microsoft 365 resource email
Assign device to resource
  • Click on the "Client admin" link in menu
  • Click on "Device list"
  • Select Menu -> Settings -> Resource

Troubleshooting

Calendar shows organizer's name instead of event subject
